Trench-It is pleased to have on staff one of the nation's leading
authorities on safety. Carl Griffith is regarded as a national expert
in all phases of safety in the communications industry and has given
over 1,000 safety presentations during his career. He has written
over 100 safety programs and is a published author and photographer.
Carl started his career as a fire/safety specialist for the Department
of the Air Force. He has managed safety and loss prevention activities
for companies in the telecommunications industry and became experienced
within safety, risk management, fire and environmental engineering.
Carl has been involved in professional safety and safety education
organizations, on the national, state and local level. He served
recently as chairperson of the National Safety Council - Utilities
Division - Communications Section and as a board member and president
of the National Safety Management Society. He was one of the founders
of the Certified Utility Safety Administrator (CUSA) program and
the second person to achieve certification. He is certified in hazard
control, public safety, safety and health, and utility safety. Carl
belongs to the American Society of Safety Engineers, The Greater
Chicago and Illinois Safety Council and the National Safety Council.
Innovative ideas, hard work and service to his profession have resulted
in many honors for Carl from his employers and peers and many opportunities
to lecture and write. The National Safety Management Society awarded
him its very first Safety Management Professional of the Year Award
and he twice earned the National Safety Council's Cameron Award.
Carl was also awarded the DSSA (Distinguished Service to Safety
Award) National Safety Council's highest honor.
